I like being pushed out of my comfort zone sometimes. I’ve built a reputation as a family photographer, and I’ve come to really enjoy beach photography. We really have a beautiful backdrop with the beaches as gorgeous as the ones we have on the Emerald Coast.
Recently I donated a family session to a local charity auction, expecting a family beach session like normal. When I spoke with our winner, Daphne Martin, I was delighted when she asked if I’d consider going another direction – would I photograph their yellow labs and their eight puppies?
Of course I said yes, because I’m a fan of all kinds of babies, but these five week old puppies were a bit more wiggly than your average toddler. Daphne warned it might be chaotic, but that she wanted some photos to document this time and their fur babies litter. We agreed that their boys – aged 11, 14 and 17 – should be part of the shoot too, to give us a few extra sets of hands to wrangle!
Daphne and her family live in the Santa Rosa Beach area. We decided to shoot in their lovely front yard since it was fenced in. Sweet mama lab looked tired, but seemed to be handling her little troublemakers with ease. Daphne’s beautiful yard made a wonderful backdrop, and I was so pleased to get a shot of everyone in the family all together.
This session was different, but I so enjoyed myself, and I think the Martins did too! This session was such a wonderful experience and I hope to work with the Martin family again in the future!
