I love working with returning families! Not only do I already know their personalities, but comparing the differences over a period of a year or more is so much fun, both for me and for the families. The Slott family is a great example. I first photographed them on Panama City Beach in 2012, and had the pleasure of working with them again this past summer on Pensacola Beach, near Gulf Islands National Seashore, another of my favorite spots for family photography. That stretch of beaches around Gulf Islands National Seashore is particularly lovely; the fine white “sugar-sand” of Opal Beach, and the bright sapphire water at Navarre Beach are popular to vacationers and to backdrops for family portraits.

Aimee has been wonderful to work with since we first started corresponding years ago, and on both occasions came with super cute outfit/color combinations. As you can see, the red and white look great against the Pensacola Beach backdrop. I particularly enjoyed the pictures of their children side by side – they were adorable kids the first time I met them, and have since grown into lovely and composed teenagers. They traveled from Texas with Aimee’s mother this time, which gave me the opportunity to catch three generations of women in one frame. I’m always excited to include grandmothers, cousins or other members of the family to capture what makes that family special.

On both occasions, Aimee ordered Christmas cards designed for her from those photography sessions. I was honored to be a part not just of their vacation in beautiful Pensacola Beach, but also of their holiday season as their family and friends also got to see their images.
