Owning a photography business that stretches from Okaloosa, to Destin, all the way to 30a keeps me very busy but I absolutely love it. The Ratliff’s came all the way down from kentucky to experience our beautiful, sugar sand beaches (not being biased but SO worth it right!?). I love how excited people get about the beauty of where we live, I hope I never get used to the natural wonders of Florida! This sweet family stayed on Okaloosa Island, which by the way, does not get enough credit! Okaloosa Island is eclectic, fun, and of course beyond beautiful! I love photographing on the Island. The shoot took place at John Beasley Park off of Miracle Strip Pkwy. The family was such a joy to photograph! They had two adorable boys and a fun little girl. Something great about the way we do things here at Tiffany Sims, is that it’s easy for the family. Little ones add such life to pictures and as we all know—they get bored. Fast! (lol). The whole session takes about 45 minutes which is long enough for us to get gorgeous, natural lit, beach photos, but also is short enough so that it doesn’t become a big hassle for the family.
Everyone likes the classic beach color schemes for clothing but I really enjoy when the family mixes it up and choses brighter colors! The navy and pop of pink in this shoot looks amazing with that metallic-blue Okaloosa Island water! This stretch of beach is not usually too busy. Beasley Park has great dunes and less big condos than you would find in the heart of Destin. But it’s still very close to Destin and Sandestin so often after sessions the family will go straight to dinner while they’re all “dolled up” from the shoot.
Recommended places on Okaloosa Island to eat after a session is The Gulf (very kid friendly), Old Bay Steamer, Crab Shack.
